Announcing the Formation of For The People Party
In these divided times, when neighbors are conditioned to see enemies instead of allies, when shouting drowns out listening, and when politics too often forgets the people it’s meant to serve — we say: Enough.
That’s why today, I’m proud to officially announce the formation of a new independent political party that I will be collecting signatures on in my campaign for Putnam County Legislator, District 5:

I am not a political operative groomed and indoctrinated in party ideology. This party isn’t born of any dogmatic way of thinking — it’s born of principle. As Abraham Lincoln said in his historic Gettysburg Address, delivered when neighbors were fighting neighbors during the Civil War: this is a party “of the people, by the people, and For The People".
A banner under which all of us — regardless of party — can stand together and demand a government that remembers who it works for.
A True Commitment to Unity
When I first launched my campaign, I made it clear to all stakeholders that I would be open to all. I made it clear that some of my earliest supporters, my neighbors, were Republicans and Conservatives, and though I am a registered Democrat, their support and viewpoint on local politics in our community would remain beneficial to me and a part of my campaign.
That’s why already, as many of you have seen, I am on the record in the Legislature itself, supporting resolutions and ideas put forth by both republicans and democrats.
A good idea is a good idea, regardless of what party had it, and especially when it serves the people.
A United, Multi-Party Committee
That’s why I am thrilled to announce the founding committee of our For The People party, a committee reflects that commitment that I made on day one to put unity over division:
Dan Honovich, Republican and Ridge Ranch owner from Patterson, who has stood firm against government overreach and fought for fairness in agriculture and land use.
Nancy Montgomery, Democrat and sitting Putnam County Legislator, whose career is defined by bipartisanship and putting her community before political convenience.
Henry Lopez, Conservative Party leader in Putnam Valley, who believes deeply in constitutional values and the importance of people over politics.
Together, we are building something bigger than any campaign — we’re building a movement grounded in the belief that leadership is not about power, but about trust. That legislators are not chosen to rule, but to listen. And that government doesn’t exist to serve itself — it exists to serve the people.
This isn’t about left or right. It’s about right and wrong. It’s about restoring the sacred trust between the people and their representatives. Because when that trust is broken, it is not the people who have failed the system — it is the system that has failed the people.
If you believe in community over chaos… if you’re tired of being ignored until you fill a room… if you’re ready for a representative who listens first, in service to the people, — then join us.
This is your party. This is your moment.
This is For The People.
Warmly,
Brett Yarris, Candidate for Putnam County Legislator, District 5
